High-Reliability Test Equipment Solutions
B&W Engineering's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has never been greater. Founded in 1976 by Jack Brown and Hubert White, we pioneered the first fully MIL-STD compliant Particle Impact Noise Detection (PIND) system, outperforming competitors by over 30% in detection rates according to a 1978 NBS study. Our patented co-test shock apparatus simultaneously applies vibration and shock, keeping particles in motion for enhanced detection while using degaussing magnets to identify ferrous particles. Headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, we've maintained our reputation as global innovators in high-reliability test systems for aerospace, semiconductor, and electronics industries. With over four decades of experience and membership in the Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES) and the International Society of Hybrid Microelectronics (ISHM), our team combines deep technical expertise with relentless pursuit of innovation.

Our solutions comply with MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-750, MIL-STD-202, CECC6500, and other critical industry standards. Garry Black, our President since 1986, has driven development of both commercial-off-the-shelf systems and custom configurations, delivering hundreds of systems worldwide. Our engineering heritage dates to WWII radar systems and phonograph cartridge design, establishing a foundation of technical excellence that continues today. We provide economical solutions to world-class manufacturers, including semiconductor companies, electronics producers, implantable device manufacturers, aerospace firms, and space agencies.

Services
PIND Testing
Our Particle Impact Noise Detection (PIND) systems identify contaminants inside device cavities using ultrasonic sensors and patented co-test shock technology. Designed for semiconductor and electronics manufacturers, our systems exceed MIL-STD-883 requirements. The BW-LPD-DAQ4000 records digital test data for post-analysis, distinguishing true particles from ambient noise interference.
Vibration Testing
Digital vibration controllers (DVC8-4) deliver precise sine and random vibration tests between 2-2000Hz. Our systems support military standard testing protocols while providing real-time data analysis and Excel exports. Customizable test profiles accommodate complex frequency sweeps for aerospace and defense applications.
Mechanical Shock Testing
Model BW-MST-E5000 mechanical shock systems replicate high-impact drops using electromagnetic acceleration. Capable of generating 5000Gs pulses from 0.2-2.0 milliseconds, these systems test device durability under extreme conditions. Customizable pulse shapes and durations meet MIL-STD-810 specifications for qualification testing.
Calibration Services
We provide on-site and in-facility calibration for all B&W test equipment. Certified technicians perform full diagnostics using NIST-traceable standards. Calibration packages include MIL-STD compliance verification, sensitivity adjustments, and certification documentation valid for one year.
Custom Solutions
Our engineering team designs specialized acoustic sensors, shock towers, and vibration platforms for unique testing requirements. From miniaturized components to 10-pound payloads, we develop customized test environments that maintain compliance with international standards while optimizing detection capabilities.
