Trix Systems was established in 1985 with an initial focus on the development of bespoke software solutions to enhance the functionality of AutoCAD. Trix Systems is still an AutoCAD registered developer but now offers solutions that run independently of AutoCAD. The actual Trix Systems name was assumed when the first shrink wrap software, TracTrix Version 1, was released in 1989.

In the 1990s Trix Systems began a collaborative association with the Provanum AB company. Trix Systems provided software development and engineering skills while Provanum provided the systems integration and consulting resources.
