Operating Engineers

Local 501, AFL-CIO was formed in 1953 by the merger of several regional locals. Since its humble beginnings Local 501 has grown to one of the largest Stationary Engineer Locals in the entire United States. Over the decades our Local has established itself as a pillar of highly trained, multi-skilled trade unionists throughout the Labor community.

Our mission has been and continues to be to provide highly skilled, safe, and productive operators and stationary/facilities engineers to the stationary, construction, and environmental industries. IUOE training programs are second to none, where apprentices and journey-level members hone or advance their skills.
