Utility Technology Engineers-Consultants, PLLC (dba UTEC) has proudly provided electrical engineering design, analysis, consulting, and construction services to utilities and various industries for over 30 years.
Seneca Substation 1 was over 40 years old and had experienced a major fire and outage. UTEC, PLLC provided design, engineering and construction services for a new 12.5 kV substation to be constructed with the existing substation in service. The new substation was served by a connection to the existing Duke 12.5 kV bus through a new 12.5 kV main circuit breaker.
UTEC, PLLC recently completed design of a fiber optic transmission relaying system that will use SONET compliant OC-3 switches and T1 multiplexers to provide communications for current differential and step distance relays. The system will provide communications channels for ten sets of current dierential and step distance relays and provide separate voice, SCADA, and RS 232 channels to 27 remote sites.
Since 2008, UTEC, PLLC has performed numerous Arc Flash studies. Projects have ranged from small analyses for commercial installations to detailed analyses of complete water utility systems. A report was prepared for most of the projects and in several cases UTEC presented the report details and provided Arc Flash and Safety training for the clients.
