Summit Consulting was established just south of the community of Tok in 1995 to provide construction management (CM) services for rural Alaska sanitation projects. Since the company's inception, our offices have expanded to Anchorage and Fairbanks, and we now provide a full range of planning and design services and CM at risk services in addition to force account construction management.

Services
Solid waste management is difficult in many Alaskan communities. Dump sites often fail to contain the waste; they attract wildlife and disease vectors, and threaten the health and safety of local residents and the environment. Trash at these dump sites is often burned on the ground or in crude burn containers in an attempt to reduce volume and solve these problems.
Project construction in bush Alaska poses frequent and significant challenges, and the potential for cost and schedule overruns is very high in almost every instance. With remote design and construction as our business, Summit has developed aggressive, proven methods to successfully execute each project with a minimum of delays and setbacks.
Summit Consulting offers its clients a broad range of engineering services from rural infrastructure to urban design. As each contract is executed, these services are specially tailored for each project to meet the needs and preferences of the client to the greatest extent possible. Summit often works as part of the client's team to define project scope and develop cost effective solutions.
From a community perspective, a successful project must be defined as one that maximizes the learning and economic opportunities for residents and, at the same time, delivers a finished product that meets commercial construction standards. During the past twenty plus years, Summit has managed the construction of over 60 force account projects, all built to commercial standards, using 98% local labor and community owned equipment.
