Operating Engineers Local 3 is the largest construction trades local in the U.S., representing over 37,000 members across our four-state jurisdiction of California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. From heavy equipment operators and mechanics, to surveyors, construction inspectors, highway maintenance workers, police officers and other public employees, we represent the men and women who drive this country's economy.

If you're in Northern California, Nevada, Utah or Hawaii, chances are, the blade you see along the side of the freeway or the crane you see on those city high-rises is operated by our members.
Services
Our members are well-organized and well-represented, and because of this they enjoy the wages, benefits, retirement and job security that provide a decent living for them and their families. As a completely member-owned and member-operated organization, we understand that our members approach their work as career professionals, which is why we offer top-notch apprenticeship and ongoing training programs to ensure they are the best-trained, safest and most-skilled workers in the industry.
With the collective influence of over 37,000 members throughout our four-state jurisdiction (California, Nevada, Utah and Hawaii), our membership has the ability and resources to effectively mobilize in support of working people and in opposition to anti-labor extremism. At a time when both are necessary to protect the standard of living of America's middle-class, we are proud to be on the front lines representing the Voice of the Engineer (VOTE).Below are the union's recommendations so far. Please check back here, in your Engineers News and in the mail for more recommendations.
Since 1943, Local 3 has made communicating with its membership a priority with the creation and production of a monthly newsletter, which has changed names, titles and formats over the decades. Today, the award-winning, 32-page, full-color magazine, Engineers News, is just another example of Local 3's commitment to keeping its 35,000+ members informed. Your membership ensures you receive the magazine every single month.
Do you want a career that takes you places? It all starts at one of the country's most prestigious training centers, the California Operating Engineers Journeymen and Apprentice Training Center (OE3 JATC), where apprentices train for free!

Unions are not what you think. OE3 treats their employees with disrespect and dishonesty. Working there felt like I was in a boarding school. Luckily, they will not hang on for much longer due to they struggle in pulling in younger generations to keep their ship a float. bye, felicia.
