We are a full service, consulting engineering firm that provides a broad range of professional engineering services. Our multi-disciplined staff has served state and local governments as well as industrial and commercial clients with a particular expertise within the wood products industry. Mid-South is an Arkansas based corporation with offices in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Cary, North Carolina, and Orono, Maine.
Possibly, there are many Mid-South employees who do not know the origin and history of the formation of Mid-South Engineering Company. There are seven present employees and three former Mid-South employees who know the story very well. In 1949, I was hired by Dierks Lumber & Coal Company, whose name was changed shortly thereafter to Dierks Forests, Inc., to be a Special Projects Engineer with offices at the Mountain Pine mill. At that time, the engineering department consisted of a chief engineer, a project engineer, and two draftsmen.
Mid-South Engineering maintains a staff of full-time engineers of multiple disciplines who serve as integral members of each project team to provide synergy and continuity throughout the duration of the project. Mid-South Engineering's Mechanical Department provides a wide array of services to support clients' needs from upgrading a single piece of equipment to complete green field facility design.
Our design experience extends through engineered products and panelboard sector including particleboard, MDF, Gypsum Wallboard Cement Fiberboard and OSB. Log processing, block processing, sawmills, veneer operations, lay-up lines, planermills - we've done it all; providing services from feasibility studies to detailed design to construction.
