This shows an example of a dip molded vinyl boot. The hot mandrels are dipped into liquid PVC, fused in an oven, cooled and then stripped off the tooling. McCammon Engineering Corp. was founded in 1985 as a custom design and manufacturing firm, specializing in dip molded latex parts. In 1987 we expanded into neoprene and nitrile dip molding, expanding our line again in 1990 to include hot dip plastisol (PVC). In 2000 we added silicone dip coating and spray coating for both military and industrial applications, giving us the capability to handle nearly any project we receive. A new facility was completed in 2003 which more than doubled our manufacturing capabilities.
Dip molding offers an attractive alternative to other molding technologies. Cosmetic appeal, seamless parts, inexpensive tooling and rapid prototyping are just a few of the many advantages of dip molding. Materials including natural latex rubber, neoprene, nitrile (Buna-n), silicone and vinyl (pvc) are all available in dip molding compounds.
Dip coating allows the customer to have a protective or cosmetic coating applied to a variety of substrates including metals, plastics, textiles, foams, etc. Coatings from a few to several thousandths of an inch can be applied in a variety of colors and durometer. Practically all materials and processing used for dip molding lend themselves to dip coating.
