Services
Lewis and Van Vleet Inc., has design experience with a wide variety of projects. We have provided structural engineering for institutional, multi-family, commercial, and industrial projects as well as specialty projects such as fabric structures and movable structures.
The new highly automated plant for Beaverton Foods was built to replace an aging facility in central Beaverton. Lewis and Van Vleet Inc. worked with Robert Evans Co. Inc., General Contractors, providing structural and civil engineering services for the design and construction of the building shell and food processing equipment.
We have extensive and varied experience with institutional projects and feel they are an area of special expertise. We have provided engineering services on numerous schools, fire stations, hospitals, and police and jail facilities. These projects are typically designed to a higher standard than other types of structures and provide additional challenges to the design team.
This fully renovated and remodeled office building was formerly an auto repair garage. It had a lightly reinforced structural concrete floor system over a basement parking garage, and unreinforced masonry (URM) bearing walls supporting a wood roof structure above. The structural work included reinforcement of the concrete elements with structural steel and reinforced shotcrete, raising the existing heavy timber truss roof system, replacing most of the masonry walls with new framing, and adding new lateral load-resisting elements to support the restored URM storefront and elsewhere throughout the building.
