Since 1992, Hesnor Engineering Associates (HEA) has been delivering sound, energy-efficient engineering, construction, and equipment specification and installation solutions to public- and private-sector clients throughout the US. Every consulting engagement we participate in includes thought-leadership that has developed over decades of involvement with highly-specialized equipment and systems in the industrial research, manufacturing, healthcare and mission-critical sectors. Many firms spend a lot of time talking about their client service philosophy.
HEA provided M/E/P design services to upgrade a data center for a worldwide plastics manufacturer. The center required significant upgrades to serve operations in several countries. It includes a new UPS/PDU room adjacent to the data center as well as dedicated power feeders that allow for complete redundancy. The equipment provides dual feeds to the center's existing 50+ racks, with capacity for future growth. HEA also designed the cooling upgrades for the project. HEA designed multiple the Point of Presence (PoP) data centers along with ION's 2,200-mile fiber-optic network, which delivers reliable high-speed internet access to over 60 rural New York communities.
HEA designed the M/E/P systems for this new 295,000 SF, six story mixed-use building. The building includes retail and restaurant spaces on the first floor and 207 apartments on floors two through six, as well as an underground parking garage. HEA's work included all building utilities as well as HVAC, exhaust, normal and emergency power distribution, lighting, plumbing and fire alarm systems associated with each of the building's apartments, common areas and shell spaces. HEA also provided M/E/P fit-up designs for several of the building's restaurant tenants.
Over the years, HEA has provided a wide variety of M/E/P design support for projects at this airport, which includes over 60 buildings on 1,200 acres. Projects have included Administration Building HVAC, power, lighting and plumbing renovations; airfield emergency generator replacement; Million Air Terminal emergency generator; maintenance facility generator; hangar condensation mitigation; electric utility upgrades; utilities for terminal building food court tenants; hydrogen gas storage and distribution system; CCTV and security upgrades; and arc flash hazard analyses.
For over 20 years, HEA has provided on-call M/E/P, process and industrial engineering services to a prominent industrial research client. We have successfully completed over 2,000 projects at this facility to support their research in multiple industrial market sectors. Projects have included boiler plants, chiller plants, fire protection, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, process systems, laboratory fit-ups, test cell fit-ups, power supply and distribution, lighting, water supply and wastewater systems, and security systems.
This 20-story building, which offers 43,000 SF per floor, required upgrades to its entire heating, ventilating and air-conditioning infrastructure. Rehabilitation was undertaken on a floor-by-floor basis and generally included total demolition followed by the installation of a new VAV heating and air-conditioning system. We designed a complement of 13 modular-type gas-fired boilers for installation in the building's penthouse. Hot water was pumped around the building for use in the new VAV system.
For 27 years Hesnor Engineering Services has been providing mechanical, plumbing, and electrical engineering design services across industries that include Healthcare, Commercial, Multi-Unit Residential, Education, Data Centers and more. Recent projects have included electrical design, HVAC, plumbing, power distribution, and fire alarm design services for regional and international airports, fire stations and community centers. Recent projects include installing new laboratory systems for colleges and universities as well as mechanical, plumbing and fire protection design services for a regional high school.
HEA provided mechanical, plumbing and fire protection design for the complete replacement of building systems associated with a full-building renovation/addition project for a 170,000 SF school. The project included on-site renewable energy generation as well as a variety of high-efficiency HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. HVAC design included new high-efficiency condensing boilers, valves, pumps, variable frequency drives, energy recovery ventilators, chilled water equipment, exhaust systems, piping, and ancillary equipment as well as new controls and a new building management system.
