Seven decades of continuous, locally-owned and operated service in Colorado. Over 25,000 successful projects. An unwavering commitment to quality, delivered on-time and within budget, one project at a time. These are the cornerstones upon which Colorado-based Drexel, Barrell & Co. has built our reputation for excellence. Since 1949, public and private sector clients have trusted us to provide land surveying, geomatics, and mapping. In 1964, we added civil engineering, and in 1993 transportation, traffic, and water resources engineering.
Services
Drexel Barrell began as Frank Drexel Surveying in Boulder in 1949. During the 1970's, our offices were at 1425 Pearl Street, at what is now the east end of the Pearl Street Mall (1st & second floors in the taller building on the right side). Frank served as the Boulder County Surveyor for 20 years and as a result, assembled the most comprehensive collection of survey records in the County. Through him our records date back over 150 years and form the basis for much of the surveying in Boulder County.
Drexel Barrell is providing high-precision surveying and control for the disassembly and reconstruction of the US Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel in Colorado Springs, built in 1963. The $158 million project will completely refurbish and restore this National Historic Landmark and reopen in 2024. We started as surveyors in 1949 and land surveying, geomatics, and related services are still an integral part our business today. In fact, most of our projects start and end with surveying. We provide boundary and topographic design surveys at the beginning of a project.
In the 1960's, Charles Gates (owner of the Gates Rubber Company) retained Drexel Barrell to provide engineering and surveying for his 3,500-acre Cheyenne Mountain Ranch master-planned community at the base of Cheyenne Mountain. This project, surveying tunnels for NORAD beneath Cheyenne Mountain, and work at Peterson AFB led us to open a Colorado Springs office in 1973.
Drexel Barrell offers excellent pay and opportunities for advancement. Our employee benefits include: company sponsored 401(k) plan, employee medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance. In addition to paid vacation and sick leave, our employees receive at least 7-1/2 paid holidays per year.
