Established in 1999, DeviceLab is a full-service medical device engineering and design company based in Orange County, Southern California. We have successfully completed over 100 major projects, including 16 Medical Carts, 22 Table-Top Instruments, 20 Hand Held Devices, and 9 Single-Use/Disposable Medical Devices.
DeviceLab employs designers, engineers, and technicians who possess talents in a broad range of disciplines needed for developing medical devices. This means that whatever technologies are employed in your device, we know how to develop the mechanisms, controls, interfaces, and safety features it will need to incorporate, and how to integrate all these parts into a safe and effective device.
DeviceLab is eager to sponsor the coming generation of talent in the field of medical device engineering by offering a $1,000 scholarship to an engineering or biomedical engineering student who exhibits outstanding promise and dedication. As technology continues to rapidly evolve, what do you see as the next big innovation coming to medical devices?
Form Follows Function is the key principle for our Industrial Design team. Our award-winning designers create beautiful designs, but their creativity does not violate the laws of Physics, Chemistry, Optics, or Engineering. We consider pre-design market research, ideation, and rapid concept development are key to a successful design.

My team was in a meeting with the owner while he was touting about how he creates advance design and technology by showing us only computer rendered images. He then brings out a plastic red toy chair for a child to discuss interlocking features, really? I take a restroom break and there are no paper towels or toilet paper in either restrooms. I look over at the corner meeting room and see cracked license CDs of CAD software from 10 years ago. Okaaayyy.

We all know what kind of place this is, just one of the many many packaging shops that just creates plastic covers for products while charging high fees. There are no degreed engineers here, no advance CAD motion studies, no CAD simulations, no certified GD&T, no real engineering, just the owner and one dude who barely speaks English. It's best to just contact independent product designers directly and have your idea rapid prototyped overseas in Shenzhen China within 3 weeks. Done.

We hired this small company, an electronic packaging shop, to design an enclosure for our electronics we created. Devicelab was using CAD software and MS office to develop the design and documents. After we paid the overpriced fees, we tried to sell our patents and copyrights to a potential corporate buyer. We found out our all of our designs and documents were created using pirated student software that the owner installed. Our deal did not go through and we are now facing an up hill legal battle. Avoid these middle man scammers at all cost!

Device Labs was able to help one of our major customers bring their new medical ultrasound product based on our engine to market. Great team and we look forward to being able to work with them on future products here at Cephasonics Ultrasound.

I accompanied a client, an individual inventor, to see Dac Vu, the president of Device Lab about her patent pending consumer product. Mr. Vu was very professional and demonstrated great technical knowledge that proved helpful to saving her expenses in developing the prototypes. His insight and patience to explain and to point out the pitfalls to avoid were valuable experiences that my client can depend on. I am glad he provided good services to my client. S. For the past year I invested a large amount of money to bring my start-up med device company off the ground. I needed a local design firm to assist in this endeavor. I found this small company devicelab and spoke directly to the owner. I noticed him and his team were not answering my engineering question directly and wasn't sure about the mechanics involved in my design.

I was shown an example of their drawings and I saw they were missing the proper GD&T, which is a crucial engineering language for manufacturing. It turns out that they are poorly staffed with 2 non-degreed engineers and Dac brings in several contractors to do the work and charges absorbent non-industry rates. I would not recommend any start-up or inventor to go here, please take your business else where.

I have a medical device start up company. I went to Dac Vu and Device Lab staff with a design problem just prior to my urgent timeline on manufacturing prototype. They were professional and immediately saw problem and solution. Dac and his team set to work to remedy the drawings so the manufacturer could expediate the tooling. I would definitely recommend this excellent 'Device Lab'.
