Design Everest has been great to work with. They (Akshat Dayal and Kirill Volchinskiy) are detail oriented, knowledgable, helpful, skillful, and attentive. They have assisted me in a complex Amnesty application for an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) and I would highly recommend them.

Was in a signed contract with Design Everest. They broke the contract stating that they were downsizing for Covid. A few weeks later get a call from Design Everest sales team trying to get my business. So I said we were already in contract and they broke it, but if they are back up and running happy to resume our contract. Got a quote back for 2x the original contract for the same scope of work!

All in a span of a few weeks. When I enquirer why the huge price increase they said they have a larger team and more overheads! What happened to the downsizing? Sounds and smells like shady business practices. I went with Zenith engineering. Fellow homeowners Stay away from Design Everest.

I contacted three design engineering firms and never heard back from them. Design Everest returned my inquiry the next day and reached out to me by both phone and by email. I set up a call with Jessica, and she walked me through the process and set up an appointment with the engineer in the field to address my concerns regarding the condition of my house and planned remodel. The report was returned within one day. They're organized and efficient. It's refreshing dealing with a company that's on top of things.

The entire experience is unfortunately very painful. 1. There is no value added from the program manager. She is not only very slow in response (sometimes it takes longer than 7 days to answer a simple question) but also not detail orientated. There were often mistakes in the information they provided. 2. They charge extra for any changes regardless of the causes.

For example, when they provided the design, they didn't ask for soil reports. After we submitted to the city, the city requested the soil report. Then they suddenly realized that they need to change the design and charged us additional significant $$. They should've asked the relevant information before providing the design. But they didn't. Instead, they just delivered based on their assumption.

It prolonged the entire process because of this unnecessary revisions and back and forth with the city. It not only shows that they don't care about the customer experience but little interest in ensuing the quality/security they provided. We can't back off from them because we had already invested so much. But I really recommend not to work with them for your sanity and safety.

My project started with a customer success manager who provided many insights to a first-time homeowner like myself. I did some research before deciding to return to Everest for consultation. The contract was clear in the deliverables and the project manager did his best to answer all the questions I have before and after the project. I marked off a point only because I did not get a clear answer on another side project that I want them to work on. I have no question about the quality work Everest stands by and I recommend anyone ready for major renovation to work with them.

My wife and I were looking for a design and architectural firm to help us get plans approved by Livermore ca. for a large addition to our home. We are hoping to have my parents move in with us and need the extra space. We were recommended Design Everest who quickly after being contacted put project manager Nanak Rajani on our project and from beginning to end he was very available and responsive with any and all questions we had. Nanak and Piti (our architect) within a short matter of time got our plans created and approved by the city for build. We have already started recommending the firm to other friends looking to build. We had an excellent experience with the team to complete structural and elevation drawings to meet permitting for a new retaining wall. I was very thrilled when Jessica responded right away to my initial inquiry, and we talked through all my concerns about meeting both our limited budget plus strict Santa Cruz County requirements. They also were by far one of the only affordable civil engineering firms in the area that also had the bandwidth to take on a new project.

Our project manager Rajiv was great throughout the process and very responsive, and worked as an efficient liaison between our engineer to address any design updates and concerns. Once we got comments back from the permit department, they were able to make changes quickly and efficiently. Even though this process is stressful with a lot of "lessons learned" as a rookie home improver, the team really helped us understand everything and worked to ensure we had everything we needed in our design.

I highly recommend getting a couple construction bids during the process to see if any cost concerns can be addressed ahead of getting the final stamped drawings, so the team can make any changes in calculations if you want to swap building materials. We didn't have them do a site visit, but were able to provide all the measurements via email/photos which were reflected accurately in the final design.

We had an initial site assessment and then plans drafted for a seismic retrofit of our home in Castro Valley. The engineers who completed each showed up on time, answered all of our questions, and turned reports and plans around quickly. The customer service side was also helpful with questions about some of the details in their contract and then with questions about the work products. Four star because we haven't ever done anything similar to be able to make a comparison, but we would use them again.

I needed a beam in my house evaluated to determine if it were load bearing and I contacted Design Everest for the job. Because this was an expensive evaluation, I waited to take advantage of Design Everest's 10% discount-Thanksgiving promotion to approve the job. This discount was not immediately credited to me and after numerous phone calls and countless emails to receive it, it's now two months later and I have still not been credited with the 10% off.

With each contact I made with them, I was either told the discount was being processed or I was completely ignored. Hannah Lyn, the Customer Service Representative I dealt with at Design Everest, has failed to follow through with my request and is responsible for me having to write this negitive review. Be very careful with Design Everest. Byron S.

I wish it didn't turn out like this. I hope that my project, which spanned multiple years, helps you make an informed decision. The irony is my project was not that complicated. I wanted to build a room within my large office. Basically a box within a box. To achieve this I needed architecture, structural and mechanical plans that Design Everest (DE) said they could service.

Initially (pre-covid, circa 2019) I was impressed with DE due to their polished website and quick response to my inquiry. Also, the seemingly high rating (more on that later) led me to sign with them. It was basically immediately after signing that the project went downhill. After I signed, I learned that DE simply outsourced my project. The architect they brought on would leave the project for no reason.

I had to give a tour to THREE architects before one finally stayed with the project. The one that finally worked on my project wasn't licensed so he could not stamp drawings. Surprisingly, they did not let me talk to directly to the licensed architect (they actually kept him HIDDEN from me). I had to investigate who was in charge. I looked into their office (again, precovid) and to my surprise, all of their addresses point to RESIDENTAL ADDRESSES.

This 'large' company did not have one office that I could meet with them at. Getting a hold of them was a nightmare at every turn. Simple questions took days to weeks to get answered. Basically, my project manager was nothing more than a way for messages to slow down or grind to a halt. Drawings sat on desks for weeks at a time simply to be reviewed.

They even drew the wooden joyce beams the wrong direction and the city made us stop work. This was after onsite visits and dozens of supplied photos. Fast forward and many many delays later, a relatively small change summarizes my experiences in a nutshell. I almost didn't want to make the change because I knew how painful my experience would be, and they did not disappoint.

The update: Move a wall 10'. It took DE 3 weeks to send me a QUOTE, another 2 weeks to complete the drawing, and then another TWO WEEKs for the licensed architect to STAMP the drawing. To provide context, they billed me for 8 hours of work (which probably took 4 according to architects I know) yet this one process took TWO MONTHS. I honestly considered legal action for professional mismanagement and the lost business revenue due to their conduct. And, I have a whole other review about how they almost tanked my project due to the structural engineer they brought on to my project who wanted us to destroy tons of concrete to put in a wall.

He said there was no other way. I found a way with another engineer. To summarize, selecting Design Everest was a stressful and unprofessional experience. At every turn, their significant delays from understaffing and professional mismanagement cost my business revenue.

An update since my last review: Design Everest has worked hard on improving our experience working with them. We requested a revision which they provided at a huge discount and worked quickly to finalize, the revision passed the city with no comments. In addition they assigned another project manager who was a tremendous help, she responds quickly and makes sure to follow up.

It has been great working with her and getting the answers as we now move to construction phase. Only reason it's still 4 stars is due to the delays and miscommunications we experienced in the beginning, this though could be attributed to the pandemic and getting adjusted to remote work and life being unexpected to everyone.

I have written a review a while back and somehow I can't find it to update it. We hired Design Everest to design our home addition project. The whole process took 1.5 years due to their lack of responsiveness. We almost gave up but because it finally got through city approval we decided to continue. Now during the construction process we have been in many difficult situations with their lack of responsiveness.

For example, it's been 19 days since we had a question about a measurement and just can't get an answer from the engineer. By the way, there is always a middle person so you never really speak to the engineer/architect. I never write reviewes but this one I had to. This company is a joke. Don't waste your money! Update- we had to spend more labor and materials in our project due to wrong measurements done by their "team".

Our contractors caught the mistake so we could fix the problem - but this company wants more money to provide us a letter from the engineer to ok the changes - which are corrections to their own mistake. It's beyond crazy!

We select Design Everest for our kitchen wall removal project. The structural design passed the city review without any fix required. The project manager and engineers response to our follow-up questions quickly. Highly recommend Design Everest for similar projects like ours.

Completely unprofessional and untrustworthy. I called to get a structural engineer to do an assessment of my house. They confirmed my location, asked for payment in full (which I sent) and then signed a contract. Then they said they don't service my location. I'm still waiting on my refund. UPDATE: After much discussion, the company did make good on their commitment and sent an engineer to perform the evaluation of my property. The engineer they hired for the job was great.

I called Design Everest Thursday to get an evaluation if my kitchen wall is partition or lead bearing. I spoke to Jessica, very pleasant to talk to and very informative, we agreed on the service and price and told me that someone will call me for scheduling the following week, I told her that I was in a bit of a tight deadline. I received a call from her that very Sunday that an Engineer was available that day if my schedule allowed it.

I said yes, Shawn came at 1 PM Sunday and did the evaluation. He was very courteous, knowledgeable and thorough! He completed the work in about an hour. I received my letter with seal that following Thursday. great work! I highly recommend Design Everest!

I made the mistake of submitting a request for a quote on their website, and have been bombarded with nonstop emails, texts, and phone calls ever since. I must have unsubscribed a dozen times, but they've propagated my contact info to all their offices across the state and the spam just won't stop. The "quote" I received was an automated form letter, and I suspect their website is a honeypot to harvest contact info for resale. If you are tempted to request a quote, make sure to use a throwaway email address and your ex's phone number.

I reached out to Design Everest through their website. They promptly responded w/ their CSM Jessica Passage responding w/ some additional questions about my project (needed site plans for an ADA-compliant ramp for my commercial building). After providing more details, she comes back that they can't help me without offering any explanation. When I pushed for one (since my project seems pretty straightforward), her response was pretty curt: Jessica Passage: We do not have availability right now. Me: Are there other firms you can recommend? Jessica Passage: If I do I'll let ya know Now, I'm not a customer success manager, but this came off very rude and unprofessional.

I would've been fine with her even saying "we don't do these types of projects" instead of a bullsh*t reason "no availability right now" -- if that was really the case, Jessica's first email to me would've been "I'm sorry, but we can't take any additional projects at the moment because x, y, z." I didn't get any sense that this company cares about how they treat potential customers -- makes me wonder how they actually treat paying customers.

Look somewhere else! UPDATE: I just submitted an inquiry through Yelp to local firms for my project -- guess who is the first to respond multiple times? Design Everest --- what happened to no availability right now?

I ordered an engineering report for a real estate transaction for the foundation portion of inspections. Great company, easy scheduling, great report that was complete and concise. Engineer reported on the foundation as well as the structure itself. Highly recommend.

In the process of getting info on our ADU. They have been very helpful in the starting stages of this project and will continue with them as we proceed in all the steps going forward. Will update as this project moves forward. We know this could be a long and difficult process but know that without outside help this could be.financially a huge mistake. Will try to send updates as we progress our project. Tom and Nina

Structural engineers in my area (monterey) were so backed up and not interested in my ADU project that I reached out to Design Everest iin Mountain View. They were more than willing and prompt to help. They had an upfront easy to understand contract/pricing and had someone out in the first week to begin the project. They then delivered on preliminary plans within a few weeks of the first site visit.

I had such a wonderful experience with Design Everest and Aakash. I knew it was going to be good from the get go because of their quick response. I had left messages for other structural engineers and either they called back several days later to just say the project isn't big enough or some never even called. Design Everest collect all the information needed, sent out their contract and got started right away. They did an excellent job on our Saratoga project. I highly recommend them!

We have a complicated situation that COVID made even more difficult to assess. After talking with Amar I was able to grasp what I can do next. I would highly recommend calling DESIGN EVEREST for a virtual consult. Don't wait until COVID is over. Your home is everything. Don't risk permanent damage if you suspect something is wrong. Discuss it with trained professionals who know what they are talking about.

I really didn't want to get to point of leaving a review on Yelp but the company has left me no choice. We've been in contract since July 2020. Since the beginning, I informed our project manager that the set is incorrect and with the details that seem to be copied & pasted from someone else. The work was sloppy from the beginning. Example, they sent us a set with the dimensions calling out 2 stories while our my house is a single story.

We had to go back and forth several times because there were always changes previously called out that somehow didn't get incorporated in the set they sent for approval. After 5 months, we locked down on design and a final set. After printing it and sharing it with our GC and tradespeople, I was informed the architectural set was off-scale and dimensions switched between internal and external walls.

I was told I didn't printed correctly. I literally had to take a picture of ruler against printed plans to show the discrepancies. Structural set lacked detailed and when concerns were raised, I was told that my GC can just have the conversation with city when they show up for inspection. I had to tell them that is inappropriate to roll the dice with inspection.

In Jan, I went back to company to push for them to remediate they errors so I could get an accurate architectural and structural set, I have been placed in limbo where a date for deliverables was promised but never followed through. I was told architect who previously worked on our plan is no longer with the company and a new architect is being onboarded.

They asked me to be patient during the transition. So I waited. Now, the mid-Feb, I am still waiting and following up every couple days, every week. After reaching out to Jessica (Customer Success Mgr) and Shiv (Project Manager), they have completely ignored our emails and text messages. I copied CEO on emails and even reached out to him via LinkedIn, and he has responded either. I realized he might not respond here either but it's worth a try

I had a residential remodel project in Daly City that I needed structural design assistance with. Amar was the perfect guy for the job. His understanding about residential design was clearly shown in his set of drawings he produced. I am sure the building department will have no issues approving our design. Amar is very easy to work with and he can produce accurate, detailed drawings in record time and his fees are very reasonable. I would highly recommend him for any design work!
