The philosophy of THE SECOND MILE. Simply stated, it implies that every calling has its mile of necessity, those daily tasks and routines that are required merely to get by. Beyond that 1st mile, however, there is THE SECOND MILE of extra effort. We believe this ancient maxim of THE SECOND MILE accurately reflects our attitude towards our work and the services we supply to our customers.

From Our Website

Welcome to Gordon R. Archibald, Inc. (GRA), a multi-disciplined civil and environmental engineering firm that has been providing professional engineering services in Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts since 1970. GRA's staff is comprised of the most talented individuals in their fields, all of whom work as a team to deliver the kind of excellent service our clients deserve and expect. Whether we are involved with a small or large project for a public or private client, the mission is always the same: to deliver the most cost-effective solution to the client on time and within the project budget.

GRA was established in March 1970 in Providence, RI, relocating to the City of Pawtucket in 1984. In the decades since the firm's founding, the company has become one of the leading civil and environmental engineering consulting firms in southern New England, taking on a wide range of civil engineering challenges with professionalism, expertise and a noteworthy commitment to exceeding expectations. GRA provides planning, design and construction-related services over a wide range of public infrastructure and private development projects.

GRA's various clients have differing levels of need for assistance during the construction phase of a project. For some clients, such as the Warwick Sewer Authority, GRA provides a full-time Resident Engineer and construction inspection, in addition to on-site administrative services, office support and the preparation of as-built drawings. Other clients, such as municipalities, desire to have GRA provide only periodic site visits during construction to verify progress and office support to process progress payments to the contractor.
